This year you may notice a few changes around our site. We are working with a private security contractor who is helping us keep the venue and all of our particiapnts safe and well looked after.
The security on each site will have specific roles and positions. If you notice something suspicious or something that doesnt look or feel right please mention it to them, but please dont ask them to help with your assigned roles as this could take them away from their own work.
SUSPICIOUS PACKAGES: QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE
If you encounter a suspicious package do not touch, open, or shake it. Immediately follow the 4Cs Protocol.
1. CONFIRM (Identify the Threat)
Use the H.O.T. checklist to assess the item:
H – Hidden: Has it been deliberately concealed from view?
O – Obviously Suspicious: Can you see wires, batteries, grease stains, or crystals?
T – Typical: Is it out of place for this location?
Mail Indicators: Look for excessive wrapping, strange odors, uneven weight, or no return address.
2. CLEAR (Evacuate)
Leave the package exactly where it is.
Evacuate the immediate room / adjacent areas.
Move people out of the line of sight of the object.
Maintain a safe distance (minimum 100 metres).
3. COMMUNICATE (Report)
Radio to the Venue Manager immediately. They will advise and alert the police.
Safety Rule: Do not use mobile phones or radios within 15 metres of the item.
4. CONTROL (Manage the Scene)
Secure the area to prevent anyone else from entering.
Await emergency services and direct them to the scene.
